I'm Back!! Fishing on 22nd March '08

Hi all!! I am back after many many moons away!! haha!! i know i have not been posting regularly....i've realised that it takes lots of commitment to blog!! you really have to give credit to those ppl who can blog daily!!! they're good la... Anyway....

Went on a boat trip with jackson, anthony, anthony's bro, bala and my cousin. it was my first boat trip after a 2 years break!! target area was the waters off Jurong islands. It was my first time in that area and i must say it was a good trip. this time was also my first night trip so i had high expectations!! cos i have heard that the ADULT fishes come out to eat at night while the juvenile ones go to bed!!! Haha..

weather was ok cos it was raining earlier in the day and had just stopped when we boarded the boat. everyone was in high spirits. the journey to the hunting ground was filled with laughter and side-bets as everyone was eager to make sure their skills were made known!!! haha....this was also the time when we tie our hooks and gears. The waters wasn't exectly ideal cos current was quite strong and we had to use size 16 weights before our lines could stay bottom.

i guess pictures tells a thousand words so i shall just post the pics and narrate from there...here we go....

This was the pic of the ice box after the trip!! actually all were groupers and one ray that anthony landed as a finale!!

Here's a clearer pic of the night's catches .actually we were quite contented with the small number of catches cos the current for the whole night was quite strong..

This is me with my catch!!! biggest of them all!! haha!!! but gotta share credit with anthony cos somehow this joker fish was damn hungry,,took my sotong and somehow before i realise that it was hooked ,, went over to anthony's sotong and kaput his sotong too... so we ended up fighting the same fish ..yes...this joker was double- hooked!!! ended up that there wasn't any real fight becos me and anthony were like magnets fighting our fishes as we went further and further away from each other to prevent any cross lines ....we din know that we were actually fighting the same fish..so imagine this poor joker having his mouth prised super-wide open by me and anthony!!! after a while it went totally soft and all we had to do was pull it in..interesting!!

jackson and his catch!! was going to be a zero fighter pilot when real late into the morning, while he was dozing off and holding his rod in his groins, this beauty struck ....lucky his rod did not fly into the seas......

So overall it was a good trip and we had fun!!! will be going again in a week's time so stay tuned cos i intend to get some pics of us fighting the fish and maybe some vids!! that'll be interesting!!

Fishing on the 16/07/07 @Taman Jurong Fishing Village

Well well, had an early day off from work so decided to go fishing with my cousin- quan-at the Taman Jurong Fishing Village. Picked him up at around 6 plus and went to get the necessary things which had run out i.e. swivels, leader etc.

We reached there at around 7 plus 8 and my cousin proceeded to fish first. Well, amatuer fisherman are usually more excited no?? haha Anyway he was able to start fishing first because he decided not to wait for me to tie the hooks and 'kapo' those ready tied ones from the Bangala counter!! What a lazy fellow...well he lost to me in the last round of friendly fishing competition so i think he wanna have a head start...

...Head start he did have...barely ten mins after casting his line, he saw action. I was still in the midst of getting my tangled leaders sorted out and he, eating his sambal fried rice. His line started tightening and suddenly the fish pulled hard in an attempt to escape... Quan dropped his sambal fried rice and rushed to his rod... one whack and the fight is on!! After about 30secs, he landed a beautiful bass that was of a good size...in fact, he almost lost the fish because when he swung his fish up onto land, the hook came off and landed on the concrete ...sibei heng!!! haha

Knowing the boaster or dua pao that he is, he started on his tirade of ' see i so skill...today you better be careful cos i in very good form....etc etc' well i have gotten used to it so i just nodded my head and proceeded to hook up the fish on our keep-line. haha then i gently reminded him that during the last round he also got the first fish but lost in the end... i was silently confident..haha!!

Revenge is always so sweet....haha and it came quite some time later cos i was busy sorting out the stupid tangled leader lines...took me quite a while to get out the mess...i seriously think that my catch was a godsend!! why??...read on... when my line started going taut, i simply gave it a superb whack and mad sure it had no escape!! however it feels different this time.it was quite light..i mean the feel is not right.i thought i had lost the fish but after some time i felt weight again..not long later, i had the bass on land...it was small....real small...and i got a teasinf from quan none the less..haha ..actually on closer inspection, i found that the fish was not hooked on my hook!!! instead, this was a fish tat someone had lost! somehow, the second hook of this lost line managed to hooked itself into the small hole in between my swivel and was lodged...haha..see what i meant by a god send fish?? it was so so difficult for that to happen!!! my cousin quan had a good time trying to discredit my catch..bu it still counts..1-1

You know as the saying goes, 'what comes around goes around' (or is it the other way??...not impt la!!) Quan's next fish was caught in an almost similar fashion as mine!! HAHAHAHA!! i certainly did not held back my teasing!!! the line of this lost fish somehow coiled around his swivel and got tangled...

What a lucky day.. anyway, we went thru a period of no bites before finally securing a total of 5 catches in all...not a bad day.. i had wanted to post some pics along with this post but somehow my stupid phone git some problems transferrimg so i din managed to do it this time round..will upload it asap.. i am coming up with a section on pond reviews..so stay tuned folks!!

A.W.O.L !!!

My oh My!! It HAS been some time now since i last blogged!!! Damn!
Well, i have to apologize to those who came back for the past few months and still cannot see anything being done.. Sorry guys and gals!!

Anyway, i have been busy the past months working ...(ok ok i know its a lousy excuse ..) and most importantly FISHING!!!

I made two trips to be exact to the fishing pond at Taman Jurong. One was alone and no catches!! Damn it!! Another was with my cousin and that proved fruitful!! will post on the two trips soon!!! ok i promised!!! i will deliver latest by tomorrow k?? see ya!!

Bass Fishing For Beginners.

I was surfing the net for more fishing tips and advices when i came across this page that tells me more about fishing for bass(seabass or barramundi). I stopped for a while and thought 'hmmm...this might be something relevant '...

I stopped and read thru the article and found out that it was selling a guide for catching bass. Although the book is more for american citizens, i found that there are a lot of relevant stuffs in there because seabass is very much popular in Singapore. The fish is one of the most exciting one to catch because of the fight that it gives.

In addition, most fishing ponds in Singapore stock up their ponds with this particular type of fish - seabass - so all the more i was interested in this product. I mean i read thru the site and found out that this will only cost me like $50 dollars. A very sound investment considering the fact that a session at the pond will cost nearly the same amount and that sometimes it may end up an unfruitful trip cos of the low catch rate. So if i can pay the money for one fishing sessionto learn how to catch more fish, i thought "Why Not?".

Frankly speaking, i have not have the chance to try out the techniques and tips in the book but i thought they were rather logical and straightforward. I promise to post more reports with reagrds to this book and see if it really works!

In the meantime, i have included a new section on "Fantastic Fishing Guides" right at the top of all the links. I meant to let you ppl out there know of any good stuffs that i might come across make sure you do not lose out. So have a great time fishing while i check out the tips and techniques to catch more bass!!

Torrid weather!!

Hi guys and gals!! First i would like to apologise for the lack of update on this blog. Well, busy is not an excuse i know but.....

Anyway, the weather has been horrible for the past two weeks and i really did not have a chance to wet my line! What's more infuriating is that it (the weather) almost always starts to take a turn for the worse when i am free - towards the evening. Well, fortunately the tide has not been too good either so i guess that is the only blessing in disguise. I have noted that the tide will be taking aturn for the better these few days so i hope i can get some action and to post some catches soon.

So stay tuned and i promise to deliver more stuffs soon.. watch out for my free stuffs that i intend to share with all avid anglers. It will be especially helpful for beginner anglers!!
